An Assortment of Experiences

Although I do not go somewhere different every week, I have many little adventures and discoveries throughout my time living here. I am currently on fall vacation. In France, everyone gets fall, February, spring, winter, and summer vacation. I think this is pretty amazing compared to America's spring, winter, and summer breaks. For the first week of my fall break I am doing a tennis camp. Along with my lessons I hope that I will make a lot of progression this year.

I went on a little day excursion a while back with my host dad and little host brother. We walked to this high point of Lyon where overlooking you can see the Rhone river. For the rest of our time in Lyon we went to the miniatures museum and visited my host mom's sister.

Next to the high point in Lyon, is the church of Notre-Dame de Fourvère. When you are in Lyon you can look up and see this church at the top of the hill.

In another part of Lyon during a day trip with my friend Fernanda, I started to notice all of the "YOUTH FOR CLIMATE" posters and graffiti. Although graffiti can do damage to buildings, I think that it is interesting to see activism in Lyon take place by young students.

This was the first rainbow that I saw in France so far. Make a wish!

This is a "normal" lunch in my school. When I get back from break I will take photos for one week and show what I eat in a week. This was some kind of lamb sausage with cooked seasonal veggies and couscous. I also eat the salad at the top every day and decided to try some of the fruit crumble they had for that day.

I visited the Lyon Public Library with Fernanda too. It has five floors and different rooms for sections like language, historical, art, and science books. We were really intrigued by the amount of accounts were in the file cabinets on the top floor of the library.

I also went to my first play with my theater class. It was a one man comedy show. At the time I couldn't follow everything that the actor was saying, but by the end I knew a rough idea.

This last photo is from a day that I was homesick, and didn't even know it. I realized that I was after I drew a full picture from memory of my house in America in my economy notebook. I don't get homesick that often, but when I do I try to get my mind off of it and tell myself that it is only nine more months here and I will be home.
